IDA/David L. Wolper Student Achievement Award


On October 28, 2006, Eric and Isaac headed to Pasadena, California to attend the UNDERXPOSED International Documentary Film Festival. Gimme Green was nominated for the David L. Wolper Student Achievement Award that is hosted by the International Documentary Association. UNDERXPOSED featured the six films that were nominated for this prestigious and coveted award.

This year, UNDERXPOSED was held at the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Pasadena and was presented by an incredible group of individuals, Richard Koshalek ; President of ACCD, Gabor Kalman , Adjunct Professor of ACCD and the School of Cinematic Arts at USC; Leslie Marcus , Director of Special Programs at ACCD; Sandra Ruch , Executive Director of the International Documentary Association and David Walker , Dean of Public Programs at ACCD.
Gimme Green was in great company with the other competing films by directors from Sam Spiegel Film and TV School in Jerusalem, Israel, Loyola Marymount University in LA, UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA and Stanford in Berkeley, CA.

Apart from the screenings of the finalist films, attendees were also treated to some stellar discussion panels on the future of documentary presented by Eva Ho from Google , Jimmy Holcomb , COO of The Documentary Channel , Joe Neulight , President of Withoutabox , Bryan Younce , Manager of Acquisitions for Showtime Networks and Robert Bahar , Director and co-founder of Doculink .

But the big treat was a sneak preview of the much awaited film, 49 UP directed by Michael Apted , the creator of the 7 UP series. After the screening of 49 UP , Michael led a talk and answered questions about his amazing 7 UP series, which follows the lives of a group of children in England from a young age and then checks up on them every 7 years, no matter what.
